The actress’s experience in the horror genre inspired Tim Burton to include a whole collection of clever hints in the script.
The sequel to “Beetlejuice”, released decades after the release of the original film, became a kind of dedication to the career of Tim Burton – fans who appreciated the new product have already repeatedly mentioned on the Internet the various references that in the film his found film references the director’s other projects.
Still, audiences were particularly impressed by Burton’s decision to include a moment in the script that served as a sort of celebration of Jenna Ortega’s career achievements — but only those already familiar with the famed horror franchise will understand the reference .

According to many fans, the scene where Ortega’s character Astrid talks about her Halloween costume in second grade is definitely a reference to the actress’ role in the Scream film series. In ‘Beetlejuice Beetlejuice’, Astrid admits that as a child she chose the image of the hero from Edvard Munch’s ‘The Scream’ as her Halloween costume – which itself is directly related to the main idea of the horror franchise.
The photo once inspired the image of a killer whose face is hidden by a Scream mask – which, as the first film in the franchise later explains, can be purchased at any costume store for just a penny.

However, the scene that is being hotly discussed on the Internet is not the only reference to Ortega’s projects. Thus, the film expectedly recalled another, no less famous collaboration between Burton and Ortega – the mystical show “Wednesday”, in which the main character’s dance scene became so viral that it simply could not be ignored by “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice”.
