The show’s ambiguous ending may now greenlight a sequel.
The mystical drama ‘Lost’ once became a real phenomenon of modern television, gaining enormous popularity among viewers and receiving more than 100 of the most prestigious awards and prizes. The show, which launched in 2004, ended after six seasons in 2010, but the finale always seemed like the perfect excuse for fans to create a series of spin-offs – and one of the show’s main actors recently talked about it.
In one of his last interviews, Michael Emerson, who played Benjamin Linus in Lost, admitted that he would love to star in a new series dedicated to his character.
In the original show, Linus was long considered one of the main antagonists, having committed a number of brutal crimes, including the murder of his own father.
Gradually, the character begins to realize what is happening and follows the path of correction, but the final episode never gives him a chance. While most of the main characters end up in an Alternate Reality at the end of the season, which the show considers a kind of purgatory, Benjamin remains on the island and takes on the role of caretaker.
According to Emerson, the fact that his character failed to make it into the Alternate Reality clearly indicates that he deserves a separate spin-off.
The actor added that even though Benjamin wasn’t lucky enough to leave along with the other main characters, he still deserves a chance at something better — and a separate series about his life will finally “rehabilitate” his image and show his path to a better version of himself.
