The film, which has not yet been released, boasts a win at the Toronto Film Festival and positive reviews from film critics.

Film and television have been marked by a large number of films and shows based on the works of the king of horror, Stephen King, in recent decades, but not all of them have been able to reach the awards season and receive the coveted statuettes. Despite the fact that the writer’s novels and stories are adapted into films almost every year, the last time such a project received an Oscar nomination was 25 years ago – but now the new adaptation has every chance to break the vicious circle.

The science fiction drama “The Life of Chuck,” directed by Mike Flanagan and based on the Stephen King story of the same name, is now likely to compete for the Oscar at the upcoming ceremony, which will take place in March next year.

The film, starring Tom Hiddleston, tells three separate stories from the life of Chuck Kranz, focusing on his death and his childhood spent in a haunted mansion.

The Life of Chuck premiered at the Toronto Film Festival, where the film won the top prize, while also receiving several positive reviews from critics – the film is now 89% based on 35 reviews on Rotten Tomatoes.

If The Life of Chuck really does become a contender for prestigious film awards, Stephen King and company will have a major reason to celebrate: the last Oscar-nominated film adaptation of his was The Green Mile, which was released worldwide in 1999.
