Even the fans agreed that such a cameo would be completely inappropriate.
The release of the sequel to Beetlejuice a few weeks ago was a real event for fans of the original film, who were eagerly awaiting the appearance of their favorite characters in the second part – but when this did not happen, fan opinions were divided.
Some were upset that the sequel never featured Adam and Barbara Maitland, to whom the entire story owes its existence. But others, albeit with a heavy heart, agreed with the film’s screenwriter Alfred Gough, who recently explained why the team rejected the enticing idea of surprising fans with the presence of the beloved pair of characters.

As the screenwriter said in a recent interview, the reason Adam and Barbara, played by Alec Baldwin and Geena Davis, never appear in the sequel is very simple: too much time between the two films has raised doubts about the heroes’ appearance. According to Gough, the inclusion of Adam and Barbara in the plot of the second part was indeed discussed with Tim Burton, but then everyone remembered that both heroes were none other than ghosts.
This became the biggest problem: the plan called for both Baldwin and Davis to look the same as they did when they starred in the first Beetlejuice.
As a result, the entire team came to the conclusion that Adam and Barbara’s story was best left alone – especially since the characters had already concluded their storylines (relatively) well.
