Isn’t it too early? Not according to modern filmmakers.
Remakes have become an integral part of the industry, especially when it comes to popular films, the popularity of which remains high even after several years. In the 2010s, many successful films were released on the screens, and some of them managed to win so much love from the audience that new versions have already been created based on them.
Apparently, the fact that the original films are sometimes less than a decade old hasn’t stopped anyone from deciding that they already need a remake. This list contains 7 films that were released in the 2010s but have already received new interpretations on the big screen. How good they turned out is up to the audience to judge.
The idea of making a remake of a popular story (even if the story has only enjoyed its popularity for a few years) is not always a bad thing. For example, “My Terrible Neighbor” turned out to be a very good film, although the bar was set high – many people liked the sad Scandinavian story of the old man Ove, who was angry with the whole world for incredibly touching reasons.
But Tom Hanks did an excellent job: fans note that the American version of the story will definitely please fans of “The Intern” with Robert De Niro or “Butt End” with Robert Downey Jr. However, remakes never escape comparisons with the originals – and in this case, even the work of Tom Hanks and the novelty of the American version are inferior to the original Swedish film.
Many, by the way, say the problem lies with Hanks himself – they say his natural affability still shines through the character, and he’s not grumpy enough for the role. But we think the problem is that the movie business needs more original stories, not remakes.
