How much did the new “The Raven” make at the global box office? Spoiler: catastrophically low

The long-awaited 1994 remake of The Crow, now starring Bill Skarsgård, turned out to be a disaster in every sense of the word. The film, which its makers counted on unconditional success with viewers and critics, was literally destroyed by everyone, and financial losses became an even bigger problem.

As a result, “The Crow” did so poorly that the film was released in theaters for less than a month and was released on streaming on September 13, while the film wasn’t released until August 22.

Even before its official premiere in theaters, the wings of the new “The Crow” were metaphorically cut off by devastating reviews from critics – now, less than a month after its release, the film has only 23% approval from professionals, although the public was more forgiving and gave the film 64%.

The only thing worse than the reviews for “The Crow,” however, is its worldwide box office results – with a solid budget of 50 million dollars the film only collected 21 million worldwide, causing huge losses for the studio.

Despite significant changes to the storyline, the new “The Crow” largely follows the plot of the original film. The action revolves around Eric and Shelley, two lovers who decide to escape from a drug rehabilitation center after those they were hiding from come to take Shelley. Shortly after, the couple is brutally murdered by the henchmen of a local crime boss, but they do not know what is about to happen to them: Eric has risen from the dead to avenge the death of his bride in an equally brutal manner.
