And the reason for the haste is perfectly understandable.
While filming for the second season of “The Last of Us” officially ended fairly recently, and fans were no longer hoping for a super early release next year, new episodes could still drop earlier than anyone expected — but there’s hardly any reason for an early premiere related to HBO’s desire to show fans what happens next for Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsay’s characters.
As HBO CEO Casey Bloys recently revealed, season two of The Last of Us will likely premiere in the first half of 2025, as the show’s creators expect to submit nominations in time for the Emmy Awards, which usually take place in September.

Bloys also added that the same plan will likely be applied to the third season of “White Lotus,” which is also expected to premiere in the first half of next year.
Speaking about what fans can expect in the new season of “The Last of Us,” Bloys admitted that he was excited about the new episodes of the show and is now confident that viewers will appreciate the ideas of writer and producer Craig Mazin. As for “White Lotus,” Bloys hasn’t had time to watch the new season yet, but he assured that he has read the script, so he will definitely be advocating for both projects at the next Emmy ceremony.
