The funniest horror ever.

The past few years have been very successful for Nicolas Cage. The actor has starred in a number of successful independent films, and critics have already heralded a renaissance in Cage’s career.

But let’s not forget the period from the mid-2000s to the late 2010s, when Cage starred exclusively in ridiculous B-movies that even the performer’s most devoted fans were afraid to watch.

Cage has appeared in dozens of bad films, and only one of his works can be called truly terrible: the 2006 remake of The Wicker Man.

Nicolas Cage has starred in dozens of bad movies, but this one is officially the worst.

The British cult horror film about a mysterious cult and a horrific sacrificial ritual was released in 1973. So they initially responded quite positively to director Neil LaBute’s idea to remake the classic horror film.

And in vain.

When the remake hit theaters, fans were shocked by its quality: the script was banal and ridiculous, and Cage’s performance was simply ridiculous. Fans were unhappy that LaBute decided to feature an all-female cult. And the director and actor were bombarded with accusations of misogyny.

American critics judged the quality of the new “The Wicker Man” as terrifying. 15% “freshness,” and Rotten Tomatoes users found the remake embarrassing 17%.

In Russia they also laugh at the film. Nearly 30 thousand Kinopoisk users rated it as average 5.5 points.

Surprisingly, Cage isn’t at all ashamed of The Wicker Man. The actor has repeatedly stated that he considers the film an excellent black absurdist comedy that simply no one understood.
