Where is justice for the most dangerous profession in cinema?
The American Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences recognizes virtually everyone involved in making movies, from lead actors and directors to cinematographers and composers. However, one profession still seems to be completely absent from the Oscars – and that is, of course, the profession of stuntman. But it is thanks to these people that we are breathless when we watch a new jump from a height or a spectacular car chase in our favorite movies!

It is good that the Academy is adapting to trends and listening to the public. For example, they should add the category “Best Casting” in the coming years. This innovation has delighted many cinephiles and industry professionals: after all, choosing the right actor for a role is really a huge achievement that deserves a separate award, no less than the work of a stuntman. The new category will appear at the Oscars in 2026.
Although stuntmen are not recognized at the Oscars, they do have their own competition: the best stuntmen in the film world compete annually for the top prize at The Taurus Awards. There are already categories there: best stunts with fire, best fights, best stunts at high altitude, and so on.
The Taurus ceremony is held every year in Los Angeles.
