And it wasn’t filmed in Hollywood.
After the incredible success of The Blair Witch Project, many directors have attempted to copy the film’s winning formula, producing dozens of Found Footage horror films every year.
However, fans of realistic horror filmed with a shaky camera had to wait until 2007 to see a worthy successor to the cult horror. And this film was not shot in the US, but in Spain.
The film “Report”, directed by Jaume Balagueró and Paco Plaza, cost only 1.5 million euros, but that didn’t stop the mockumentary horror from scaring viewers more than ‘The Blair Witch Project’.

At the heart of the story of ‘Report’ is presenter Angela Vidal, who, together with a group of rescue workers, goes to a house in the center of Madrid that is overrun by an unknown virus. The journalist tries to make a name for herself with a controversial story and does not immediately realize that her hunger for fame has led her to a house whose inhabitants have been turned into zombies.
Adrenaline chases, tons of blood, shaky camera and scary screams – “Report” has everything to shock even the most prepared viewer. The Spanish film proved so scary that horror movie fans unanimously voted it one of the best horror movies of the 2000s.

Despite its modest budget, ‘Report’ scored higher at the global box office. 30 million dollars and American film critics gave him excellent 90% “fresh” on Rotten Tomatoes.
In Russia, the revolutionary Found Footage film was treated somewhat cooler than in the West. Nearly 70 thousand Kinopoisk users rated the quality of the horror film as 7.0 points.
