He broke several records.

The summer of 2024 proved to be a bad one for interesting series premieres. But the past three months have seen several hit shows return to screens. A battle has broken out among the “veterans” of the TV series world for the title of the summer’s hottest project.

Many fans were convinced that HBO’s House of the Dragon would be the most successful. Some were in favor of season four of Prime Video’s The Boys. But both series lost out to the third season of Netflix’s cult rom-com Bridgerton.

The third season of the romantic tale about the love lives of English aristocrats during the Regency era was split into two halves. Fans felt that this Netflix tactic would seriously harm the show’s ratings.

It turns out that the producers of the streaming platform know what they are doing.

“House of the Dragon” and “The Boys” managed to keep fans entertained 10 billion minutes in the first seven weeks of their premiere, but even this incredible result could not bring them closer to the ratings of ‘Bridgerton’.

During the same period, fans watched the third season of Shonda Rhimes’ Incredibles 15 billion minutes.

The third part of the romantic saga even managed to break one of Netflix’s records – it was watched more in the first week of its premiere 45 million viewers.

“Bridgerton” is officially the most successful series of this summer.

But The Boys and House of the Dragon also have something to brag about. “The Boys” was watched more 55 million Prime Video subscribers and every episode of ‘House of the Dragon’ attracted at least one 25 million people.

Not bad results for mature-rated series.
