Gary Oldman is back.
Apple TV+’s ‘Slow Horses’ is one of the streaming service’s quietest, yet incredibly high-quality series. A realistic series about British intelligence officers is hardly popular, but fans of ‘Homeland’ and John Le Carré’s thrillers carry the Will Smith series in their pockets.
The project stars Gary Oldman, Jack Lowden and Kristin Scott Thomas. Despite the spy show not airing its first episodes until 2022, Apple TV+ is already releasing a fourth season.
And it starts with an explosion in one of London’s shopping malls, in the preparation of which David Cartwright, the grandfather of the series’ protagonist, Rivera, is suspected.
Slow Horses has been receiving excellent reviews from critics and audiences for two years now, so it is not surprising that many prestigious actors have agreed to star in the new season. The role of Cartwright was played, as always, by Jonathan Pryce, and the former CIA agent involved in the preparation of the terrorist attack was played by Hugo Weaving.
In good British tradition, the fourth season of Slow Horses will consist of only 6 episodes. Here is their release schedule:
- Episode 1 – September 4
- Episode 2 – September 4
- Episode 3 – September 11
- Episode 4 – September 18
- Episode 5 – September 25
- Episode 6 – October 2
Apple TV+ bosses are absolutely confident in the success of the fourth season – Slow Horses was renewed for a fifth season well before the release of new episodes.
Critics rated the quality of the spy thriller on 98% “fresh,” and Rotten Tomatoes users rated the show 94%.
