For cinephiles everywhere, it was a real blessing when “The Godfather” and “Lost in Translation” director Francis Ford Coppola suddenly registered with popular movie review aggregator Letterboxd. After all, it means that fans of his work can now discover what inspires the famed director, and most importantly, which films he himself recommends to watch.
We’ve collected 10 movies that Coppola has already recommended on his account. How many of them have you already watched?
Francis Ford Coppola joined Letterboxd about a month ago and has already published his first list, which many film fans were happy about. In the comments, the director was thanked for sharing the recommendations; of course, this list was especially appreciated by fans of Marlene Dietrich.
In addition to the list of films he recommends watching, Coppola also gave several likes: “The Last Dancer,” directed by his granddaughter Gia Coppola, Nathan Silver’s “Between the Temples,” Sofia Coppola’s “Priscilla,” and Robert Schwartzman’s “The Good Half.”
But many fans on social networks noticed that Coppola’s registration on Letterboxd surprisingly coincided with the upcoming premiere of his new film ‘Megalopolis’, which comes out on September 27. “Of course he signed up; ‘Megalopolis’ reviews don’t write themselves!” – have already managed to make a joke on Reddit.
In addition to Coppola, other notable directors registered on Letterboxd include Martin Scorsese (“Taxi Driver,” “The Wolf of Wall Street”) and Michael Mann (“Heat,” “The Insider”).
