A historical drama about events that take place in China during the reign of Emperor Jiajing. The plot focuses on political intrigue, power struggles and corruption at court.
The main character is Hai Rui, an honest and incorruptible official who wants to reform the system and fight injustice. At the same time, Emperor Jiajing immersed himself in the world of mysticism and alchemy and left the government of the country to his entourage, many of whom pursued their own interests.
