What animation are we talking about?
We are talking about a new product called Dungeon of Goodies. The anime was released on Netflix in January 2024. The plot is based on the manga of the same name, published from 2014 to 2023.
Briefly about the plot: the main character named Lai goes into the dungeon for a very important purpose, but suddenly encounters a dragon that eats his sister Falin. In order to save the girl, Lai goes together with the elf healer Marcille and the halfling thief Chilchak to search for the fire breather.
But soon the provisions run out and the heroes have to feed on monsters. One day, while cooking, they are caught by the gnome Senshi, a master of preparing monstrous dishes, who asks to join the team.
Here special attention is paid to food. We can say that she is a full-fledged hero. It unites, resolves conflicts and advances the plot. Of course, it is also important for restoring mana; this is fantasy, where would it be without this cliché.
Despite the fact that they are preparing food from monsters, it looks incredibly tasty. On YouTube, users even started sharing their recipes for these delicacies, even though they are based on regular supermarket products and not magical creatures.
The title was very well reviewed on Kinopoisk – 8.2 points. For comparison: Attack on Titan scored 8.5. Considering that “Dungeon” was released recently, it has every chance to overtake the cult story about Eren Yeager.
The main advantages of the anime: a dynamic plot in which adventure, drama and comedy harmoniously overlap. There are a lot of characters here, which nicely dilutes the main arc, but does not leave you in awe. So if you are looking for something light and unobtrusive, we definitely recommend it.
