It’s not just the violent scenes.
“Attack on Titan” is loved by anime fans from different parts of the world. But in China, the cult story about Eren Yeager was banned. And you will laugh when you find out the reasons.
Why was anime banned?
To be more precise, there are two reasons. And the first one is very clear: cruelty. The anime actually has a very dark theme, a lot of violence and bloody scenes. That’s why the authorities decided that there was no point in watching such cartoons and encouraging juvenile delinquency.
Of course, we don’t know for sure whether anyone would actually be motivated to do something like this after seeing it, but at least there’s some logic to be found here.

But the second reason is of course funny. It turns out that Attack on Titan was also considered vulgar. Explicit scenes are not what young people should watch according to the authorities. Well, apparently it all comes down to the scene where Annie fought Eren in her titan forms. Honestly, I can’t remember anything more candid.

Just kidding, but it’s really a shame for the fans. They had their own discussion group on Baidu (a search engine with various web services). And at the time of the ban, there were already more than 21 million messages. And now you can’t discuss your favorite characters so calmly, and you can’t cry about the end with the fandom.
Of course, titles like “Death Note”, “Tokyo Ghoul”, “Psycho-Pass”, “Elfen Song” and many, many others were also on the banned list.
