Russian TV series are not just about the story of an outback Cinderella, with whom a rich major suddenly falls in love. And they are not limited to Soviet reality either. For example, there is a very cool noir project that is no less intriguing than the audience favorite True Detective. Definitely worth watching for fans of crime dramas.
What series are we talking about?
We are talking about the project “Secrets of the City of N”, released in 2015. The series was directed by Nikolai Khomeriki, and the script was written by Victoria Bugaeva.
The action takes place in a small, quiet town, where one day the body of a teenager is found. And nearby, in a ravine, a car belonging to a certain Shatsky is parked. At first, the investigation leans towards the version of an accident, but then water is found in the lungs of the deceased. Now each team member has his own suspect, and later Shatsky himself joins the investigation. The further you go, the clearer it becomes that every inhabitant of this town had his own compelling motives for murder.
The main roles in the series were played by Kirill Grebenshchikov, Svetlana Kolpakova, Dmitry Podnozov, Sergey Udovik, Anya Chipovskaya and others. There are only eight episodes in the series, so it is easy to watch. This is evidenced by enthusiastic reviews from viewers (by the way, on Kinopoisk it got a rating of 6.9 points, and on IMDb – 7.5):
