We have not lived well, there is nothing to begin with.
Everyone knows that Lost had an ending that left fans all over the world disappointed, angry, furious and foaming at the mouth. And besides, the show at the beginning had the highest ratings and the loyalty of critics behind it. But here is the ending… What do we tell you, you yourself remember this cruelty.
What else did the showrunners have planned for an alternate ending? Well, like a volcano. We were inspired by the real Hawaiian, by the way. But they abandoned the lofty idea of making a loop in the plot. Now we’ll tell you why.
So, about the looping plot. Remember the first season where Danielle Russo, played by Mira Furlan, secretly launched the crater? Then there were flashbacks about Dharma that were very complicated for mere mortals, tying in with Ben’s school years and the experiment with baking soda and a volcano?
Generally, this would be a reference. And the audience would have to guess for themselves. But (thank gods) the creators didn’t have enough budgets for real volcano eruptions to repeat and trample on the success of the infamous “Lord of the Rings” (there too, everything ended in a volcano crater). Generally, the final battle in Lost would be the battle for the One Ring, but with Dharma and without the hobbits.

It’s funny, isn’t it, how the director’s idea strayed far from the original plot about the victims of a plane crash? The final eruption was planned there. It was meant to symbolize the liberation from the forces of darkness. But (thanks again to the gods) it didn’t work. Granted, even without an alternate ending, the real one seemed questionable. But what happened in the end was: those who remember the old, watch out!
