Impressionable viewers in particular will have to cry.

There is less than a week left before the premiere of the sequel to ‘House of the Dragon’, and now the most impatient viewers can find out where the second season will begin. TV series fans are in for the darkest and most shocking episode in Westeros history.

The title of the episode, “Son for Son,” makes it clear that the showrunners adapted the “Blood and Cheese” chapter from the book “Fire and Blood.”

This chapter describes Rhaenyra Targaryen’s revenge for the murder of her son, Prince Lucerys Velaryon. Rhaenyra, a claimant to the Iron Throne, hires two mercenaries, Blood (a former executioner) and Cheese (a Pied Piper), to kill the child of her rival, Queen Helena Targaryen, who was married to King Aegon II.

The mercenaries infiltrate the Red Keep through secret passages and capture Helena and her children. They demand that Helena choose one of her sons to be executed. Desperate, the queen offers her life instead of the lives of her children, but Blood and Cheese stand alone.

Ultimately, the broken one names her youngest son, Maelor, but the Blood kills the eldest, Jaeherys, in cold blood in front of her mother and the rest of the children.

This act of revenge has far-reaching consequences for both sides of the conflict, which, it seems, will be discussed in the following episodes of the second season.

The bloody act causes a wave of outrage and fear throughout Westeros, and many begin to see Rhaenyra as a cruel and ruthless fighter for the throne. The child’s murder is a major blow to the royal family, increasing the suffering of Aegon II and Helena Targaryen and strengthening their resolve to fight Rhaenyra.

The incident escalates the conflict and leads to more violence and hostility between the parties in the Dance of the Dragons.
