Matthew Perry wrote about ketamine in a book a year before he died: ‘My name is written everywhere’

Matthew Perry she wrote about ketamine, which she was determined to contribute to her death at age 54 in October, in her 2022 memoir, Friends, lovers and the great terrible thing. She spoke of the treatments she was receiving “to ease the pain and help treat depression” and admitted that “her name was written on them”.

Matthew also wrote about how he felt “dying” while undergoing ketamine treatments, but explained why he would still “keep signing up for this shit.”

“It was something different and anything different is good,” he explained. “Getting a K is like getting hit in the head with a giant, happy shovel. But the undertow was strong and weighed more than the shovel. “Ketamine wasn’t for me.”

The Los Angeles County Coroner’s toxicology report officially lists “acute effects of ketamine” as the cause of Matthew’s death. Drowning, coronary heart disease and the effects of buprenorphine, a drug used to treat opioid use, were also listed as contributing factors to his death. His death was ultimately ruled an accident.

Family, friends and fans were shocked when Matthew was found unconscious in his home in Los Angeles, California on October 28.
