Michael Clarke looks happy at his Derby Day party after his Trainwreck A Current Affair interview

Michael Clarke appeared to put his terrible interview with A Current Affair behind him last week when he attended Derby Day in Melbourne on Saturday.

The former cricketer laughed it off with his friends while enjoying one of the many parties that took place that day.

Beaming from ear to ear, he looked dapper in a black suit, white shirt and patent leather shoes.

It looked like the athlete was having a great time during his boys’ night out with a group of friends.

It comes after it was revealed that Michael will keep his radio job despite the recent controversy.

The former Australian cricket captain, 42, will continue to co-host the Big Sports Breakfast radio show, The Daily Telegraph reported on Friday.

A spokesperson for Tabcorp told the newspaper the company has no plans to drop the athlete.

“Michael is an important part of the Big Sports Breakfast and we are working with his management to extend his contract,” the Tabcorp spokesperson said.

“Viewership has increased since Michael joined – Big Sports Breakfast is Australia’s most popular sports radio show. “Michael is a huge part of the TAB family and we look forward to doing more with him.”

Claims have emerged that industry insiders are pressuring Clarke to find a new manager after last month’s disastrous ACA crackdown.

Michael sat down with the Nine Network show to develop a new product from the Australian bitters company.

Instead, Clarke was peppered with questions about the infamous Noosa fight involving on-off girlfriend Jade Yarbrough and which brought along her brother-in-law, Today presenter Karl Stefanovic.

Sources now reveal that Clarke went against the advice of experts who warned him to give the interview to the news programme.

“Clarkey doesn’t have an agent or publicist guiding him at the moment and it shows,” an insider told the Daily Telegraph.

“He should never have done ACA to promote a drink … he was complete rubbish.”

“Maybe he thought (Channel 9 personality) Karl (Stefanovic) was protecting him, but that clearly wasn’t the case,” she added.

The interview, conducted by reporter Simon Bouda, appeared to catch Clarke off guard, making it clear he was not at ACA to discuss the scandal.

However, he admitted he saw the Noosa incident as a “lesson”.

“I call it lessons. “I call so many things that you know you wish you had … I think relationships are difficult, a lot happens behind closed doors and a lot of things happen that we all have to deal with,” Clarke said.

“I’m going through a divorce, you know, man, I’m going through it and it’s so sad, so hard.

“I think the only thing is you just have to do your best, good times, hard times, ups and downs, pros and cons; “I’m like everyone else – to this day I do my best here and hope that doesn’t change.”

One of the lessons he supposedly learned is that he should enjoy life “in moderation” to prevent such a fight from happening in the future.

In a video filmed by a bystander and later sold to The Daily Telegraph for a reported $10,000, Jade Yarbrough (right) was seen accusing Clarke of cheating on her.

“I like a good time,” he said.

“But probably too much for me, I think all my life, and if it’s, um, whatever it is, going to the gym and working out, then it’s just a matter of moderation.”

In the video, which was filmed by an onlooker and later sold to The Daily Telegraph for a reported $10,000, Jade accused Clarke of cheating on her with his former tracksuit designer Pip Edwards on December 17.

He was also accused of sending messages to the co-founder of activewear label PE Nation, admitting she was the “love of his life”.

Earlier this year, Clarke humbly apologized to those involved in the incident at the time and admitted it was all his fault.
