The Great British Sewing Bee is set to experience a major shake-up when Sara Pascoe leaves the show after giving birth to her second child.

The 42-year-old comedian has hosted the last two series of the BBC show since 2021.

On Wednesday, it was announced via the show’s official Twitter page that Sara will not appear in the next series and Christmas special after the birth of her child.

The official Sewing Bee account announced the news on Twitter along with a photo of the presenter and his co-judges Patrick Grant and Esme Young, writing: “We’re bursting at the seams that Kiell Smith-Bynoe has stepped in to “Christmas special and series 10 of the year.

In April, Sara opened up about her fertility issues affecting her stand-up comedy and her fear of turning down work after having her baby.

Before she was born, she had trouble conceiving and focused much of her comedy on infertility.

After having her baby, she changed her clothes to reflect motherhood and admits she is “complex”.

Speaking to Radio Times, Sara explained: “As human beings we are all inconsistent.” Something may be true at one point in your life or career, but not later.

“When I did Out of Her Mind [the BBC2 sitcom in 2020]I was at a point in my life where I realized I was infertile, and that’s really what I based the show on.

“A year later I had a baby [via IVF]. People who felt closely connected to my story were like, “Who are you?” And it was like, “Sorry, people are very complex!”

“When I was infertile I was very defensive and now I’m a mother and I make mother jokes. “I’m a judge – I’m comfortable with that and the discussion that follows.”

She also talked about her worries about her job and the feeling that she had to continue working very soon after the birth in order not to miss out on future opportunities.

Sara said, “The advantage of having money in the bank is that you don’t have to get a job to pay next month’s rent.” But the fear is: If I don’t say yes to a job now, what if they don’t ask me again?

“I did the QI when the baby was five weeks old. My agent said, ‘Wouldn’t you like a little more time?’ Because you are swollen, angry and leaking.’ “I was afraid that if I missed it, they wouldn’t ask me again next year.”
