Priyanka Chopra says motherhood is “the best thing” she’s ever done

Priyanka Chopra, 41 years old, enjoys the joy of motherhood. The actress, who shares a one-year-old daughter. Maria Malti with husband Nick JonasThe 31-year-old admitted she feels overwhelmed by being a new mom “every day,” but believes it’s “the best thing” she’s “ever done,” in a new interview with PEOPLE.

“I think when you put them to sleep, it’s extremely overwhelming because every day you worry about what you might do wrong and what mistake you might make,” she told the outlet. “But you have to consult it with yourself and I will communicate it to my family.”

“Watched [my daughter’s] I smile and say, “Okay, okay.” I’m fine so far,” he added. “It’s the best thing I’ve ever done, but it’s very scary.”

The doting mother also spoke about how having a daughter may have influenced her interest and activism in women’s rights. “I do not know if [having my own daughter] specifically, it made me want to advocate for the amplification of women’s voices. “This is something I’m very aware of, being a woman who has the privilege of choosing my life and my career,” she explained. “There are so many women around the world who don’t have this opportunity.”

Priyanka and Nick, married since 2018, welcomed Malti via a surrogate in January 2022. The little girl spent her first 100 days in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) and arrived home in time for Mother’s Day. She spent this special holiday with her mother and ever since, her proud parents haven’t been shy about sharing photos of memorable moments with her son.

In September, Priyanka, who is from India, took to Instagram to share a culturally themed post that featured adorable photos of Malti. “A girl and her Ganpati ???? Always with us… wherever we go… #ganpatibappamorya ????????? #ganeshchaturthi,” she wrote in the caption. She also shared a video showing her having fun on a farm with her family and animals. Little Malti wore a bright blue onesie with red apples and mixed happily with the animals, including a goat.
