Susanna Reid gets a cheeky slap on Richard Madeley’s storytelling

When Susanna Reid recounted a very detailed account of her meeting with Jack Nicholson, she lashed out at Richard Madeley’s narrative.

During Wednesday’s show, the 51-year-old joked about the Good Morning Britain co-host’s stories while talking about the Cannes Film Festival.

The couple spoke to Richard Arnold while broadcasting live from the south of France, where celebrity guests come for the annual festival.

During the report, Richard, 66, turned to the co-host and asked if he could share his “Cannes Film Festival memory”.

“It’s been years…” Richard began as he walked away to tell his story.

But Susanna, to her turbulent story, jokingly said, “Oh yes. Wait, Riccardo. [Arnold]†

Susanna was seen smiling as Richard began her story, while host Richard Arnold started laughing at his lighthearted joke.

Jibe: The 51-year-old MC joked about the Good Morning Britain co-host’s stories while talking about the Cannes Film Festival during Wednesday’s show.

Years ago, Richard didn’t seem shy to tell his story when he saw Jack Nicholson visiting the south of France with his wife, Judy Finnigan, while the Cannes Film Festival was underway.

The reporter did not hesitate to give many details that would set the scene while describing his ‘beloved’ encounter with the 85-year-old Shining star who was passing by.

“It was my first time in a cheap rental house in the south of France with my wife next to me.

“We came to a crossroads around eleven in the morning and it was Cannes Film Festival week, and right in front of it was a big red Porsche, with the driver behind the wheel tanned, muscular, hairy arm on top of the car. He put on his Ray-Bans.

“It was Jack Nicholson at the Crossroads and he waved, waved at me!

After hearing the story, Richard Arnold joked: “I got the same enthusiastic welcome when I returned my Prius yesterday.”

As Susanna jokes: “I thought you were going to say she wanted your autograph!”

This comes after Richard’s wife, Judy, recently announced that her husband had proposed to her while they were both married, and it had been only three weeks since they first met.

The 73-year-old TV presenter had twins Tom and Jack, who later turned six, when she met her 65-year-old partner when they were both working for the ITV Granada Television franchise.

Kate Thornton told Question Time Podcast White Wine: “I had absolutely no doubt that my six-year-old sons are twins, that two six-year-olds are my priority and that they should be.

“And when Richard and I got close, and it turns out that we were … about three weeks later talking about marriage, right, I remember. It was very, very serious, obviously.”

Judy also admitted that she thought Richard’s dress was “a little flashy” at the time, but decided to expand their relationship because she otherwise “looked good”.

She explained that her colleagues were convinced the couple was just in a “relationship” and were surprised when they broke up.

Richard was married to Lynda Hooley for five years before divorcing in 1983 after meeting Judy while she was with her husband David until 1986.

The celebrity couple hosted This Morning from its inception in 1998 until 2001, before joining their show – Richard and Judy – for eight years in 2001.

They share Jack, 35, a talent manager, and personal trainer Chloe, 34, who is specifically married to professional rugby player James Haskell, 37.
