The presence of talent had to be proven in an unusual way.
Now the Harry Potter movies are hard to imagine without the bright and original Emma Watson. However, few fans of history know that the actress was not going to be filmed in the saga at all. And there was a good reason for that.
When the castings took place, writer JK Rowling was extremely skeptical when she saw nine-year-old Emma. It seemed to the author of the books that the girl was completely unsuitable for the role of Hermione Granger.
Rowling was sure: the schoolgirl is too beautiful to be Harry Potter’s nosy girlfriend. But when Watson found out about this, she herself contacted the writer and convinced her otherwise.
As a result, after a short conversation, the creator of the cycle changed his mind. The girl chatted so actively in her phone that it was impossible not to fall in love with her talent.
“She spoke for at least 60 seconds without taking a breath, and I said, ‘Emma, you’re perfect,'” Rowling is quoted as saying by the Woman portal.
