The 44-year-old actress opened up about the stylistic mishap in a recent interview with Glamor magazine, describing the backlash as “powerful language.”
She also spoke about image and role stereotypes in the industry and said she has never had a desire to be “the sexy young thing”.
“I didn’t want to be the sexy young thing. I’m not sexy,” explains Katie, who rose to fame in the 1990s sitcom Dawsons Creek.

While Katie was scrutinized not to fall into the stereotypes of playing a young woman in Hollywood, Katie revealed that she was careful not to be portrayed as sexual.
“A friend of mine came to all my photoshoots to make sure they weren’t trying to make me look like that. Yeah, I think I just wanted to be an actress,” she explained.
The actress also opened up about her recent fashion reaction, which made headlines after her performance at Jingle Ball in December.
Katie wore a Y2K style navy mini dress over jeans and trainers to the event.
