Comedian Nazeem Hussain handed a strong sled to 51-year-old Dave Hughes in an interview with Channel Nine’s Today Extra on Tuesday.
The 36-year-old comedian answered a question from co-host Sylvia Jeffreys about the impact of Covid restrictions on the live scene.
The Netflix star said it was “difficult” for stand-up comedians before the famed FM radio star dived into 2Day.

“It was tough… Dave Hughes has the last million in his pocket,” he said.
Sylvia responded to Hughes’ hostage situation with a cheerful chuckle.
Nazeem, who lives in Melbourne, continued to joke about the exhibit standing in the driveway for her neighbors during the curfew.
“They’re halfway out for dinner,” he said. “Melbourne … tough crowd.”

Hussain, the creator of SBS’ hit TV series Legally Brown and later Seven Orange’s sketch show New Brown, said he’s been looking forward to his first national tour in several years.
“It makes more sense to me to go back on stage and I feel like we should all be laughing at that.”
Co-host David Campbell asked Nazeem about the recent attacks on comedians Chris Rock and Dave Chappelle when both men were attacked during the execution.

“I haven’t been punched yet,” said Nazeem, referring to this year’s infamous Oscar event, where Will Smith took the stage to punch Chris Rock after the comedian joked about his wife, Jada Pinkett.
This is the second awkward moment in the past week for Dave Hughes.
The 2Day FM host admitted on Wednesday that her mother called Carmel when she was 20 to confront a duplicate claim on her bank statement.
“Mom I said… [for] a brothel,” Hughes said, airing his confession on the 2Day FM breakfast show, entertaining co-hosts Ed Kavalee and Erin Molan.
