After learning the terrible news at the cancer fundraiser, Lexi rummaged through her pocket before handing over her secret savings to Lola in a sweet and tearful gesture.

Sweet: After hearing the devastating cancer fundraising news, Lexi rummaged through her pocket before giving her secret savings to Lola in a sweet and tearful gesture
Lola explained: “I’m sorry, sorry for what I’m going to say, I don’t want to. I didn’t want to tell you because I thought I was going to protect you, but I can’t, Jay can’t.
She added, “This brain tumor of mine got bigger,” when Ben asked what kind of timeline they were talking about.
At that moment, Jay revealed that they had six months at best, as a horrified Ben called Lexi over to him.
As Lola also rushed to her side, Ben told her she didn’t need to hear it again – before Lola said she “couldn’t protect herself from it anymore”, as did Callum and mum Emma.
At this point, Lexi offered to give her mother the money from her pocket.
Fans reacted on Twitter at the time, with one writing: “This scene was absolutely heartbreaking!
“Lola trying to keep up with things, Ben’s reaction when Lexi took out her savings, Callum crying…”
Another said: My heart hurts for Lexi. She grew up with Lola all her life. Lola spent 6 years of her life raising Lexi alone.

Tough: EastEnders viewers were also emotional after Monday night’s episode, when Lola received the devastating health prognosis while battling brain cancer
“It will be so heartbreaking for Lexi when her mother dies. They have such a close bond.’
A third wrote: “My heart breaks, not just for Lola, but for everyone she leaves behind. Poor Lexi, poor Jay, poor Ben. It’s just so unfair.’
EastEnders viewers were also emotional after Monday night’s episode as Lola received the devastating health prognosis amid her battle with brain cancer.
Lola was called by doctors a week earlier for a surprise appointment with her partner Jay Mitchell (Jamie Borthwick).
Doctors there told her that her tumor was growing again and that she only had six months to live.
Viewers have seen Lola’s loved ones grapple with the prospect of her terminal diagnosis as her health has deteriorated in recent weeks.
She broke down in tears after receiving the news and was told that palliative chemotherapy was all they could do for her now.
A recent flashback also hinted that Lola would die before 2023 is out, with a photo of her seen at the bar at the Queen Vic Pub.
Lola arrived at the hospital full of hope and explained to the doctor that she and husband Jay had been working on their fundraising day.
However, the doctor stopped her and told her that he had bad news for her.
“I’m afraid it’s not good news. The MRI found that the tumors were growing again,” she said, as a hopeful Lola suggested more chemotherapy.
The doctor replied: “We can talk about starting chemotherapy, but I must emphasize that this is a purely palliative measure.”
Fans of the show watching at home were in tears as one of them said: “Lola’s news. The end of #EastEnders has begun.
A second added: “Lola is being told she only has six months to live.”
While a third shared: “I know it’s just a soap but it’s breaking my heart #EastEnders.”
After a wildly successful fundraiser, Lola asks Emma to attend her and Lexi’s girls’ night out.
Emma clumsily turns down the offer, which sets off alarm bells for Jay, who worries that Emma is not coping with Lola’s deteriorating health.
Jay confronts Emma before drowning her sorrows in The Vic and tells Sam about her maternal guilt.
Will Emma be honest with Lola about her problems?
It comes after EastEnders fans were convinced that Lola’s mum Emma was hiding some dark secrets after her strange behavior in Monday’s episode sparked even more theories.
In a recent episode of the soap, Emma loved spending time with Lola for Mother’s Day.
As they spent time together, the conversation turned to Emma’s own mother – and it soon became apparent that she was hiding something.
Emma told Lola that her “glorious” mother died in a care home during the coronavirus pandemic.
Later in the episode, Lola and her young daughter, Lexi, tried to find out more about their dead relative, and when they asked about it, Emma seemed to panic.

Concerns: Lola’s mother, Emma, continues to battle her own hidden guilt, among other things, leading Jay to suspect she is struggling with it.
Pressed, Emma changed the subject and fled the house – saying she needed to get in touch with an elderly neighbour.
After her sudden departure, it was clear that Lola and her partner Jay Brown did not believe her and that something strange was going on.
Viewers were also unconvinced and took to social media to spread her theories that she lied about her mother.
Viewers took to Twitter and speculated that she may not even have been Lola’s mother, or may have even killed her own mother.
EastEnders airs Monday to Thursday at 7.30pm on BBC One.
