A day in the life of Maya Jama: The ‘stressed out’ star describes her 5am alarm clock and ‘struggling’ to find work-life balance as she vows to take inspiration from Italian culture and ‘slow to become’.

Maya Jama gave fans a glimpse into her hectic lifestyle as she described her typical work day.

The 28-year-old presenter appeared on the new Amazon Prime series Live Italian, which takes celebrities on a tour of Italy to take a break from their busy lives and discover what it really means to slow down and take simple enjoy life’s pleasures and be a real live Italian.

Maya was shown the sights by presenter Lodovica Comello, who asked Mata about her “busy and stressful” lifestyle.

The Love Island presenter replied: “Busy [day] It’s like waking up at 5am, an hour of hair and makeup, an hour in the car…

“It’s hard to find a work-life balance. I’ve always struggled with it, friends, family, work all rolled into one, it’s very difficult.’

Speaking to The Times in 2018, Maya previously revealed that “if I could, I’d stay in bed all day,” admitting “even when I have a day off, I’m at 8.”

She continued that she would start her day by dancing around the kitchen while preparing her breakfast, saying: “It’s a great way to work up a sweat without actually exercising.”

As for her get-ready routine, she continued, “There are a lot of days when I have to do my makeup and hair, so it’s nice to rest there. ‘Quick shower, hair up, no makeup, t-shirt and leggings.’

To maintain a healthy work-life balance, she continued, “I try to have a girls’ afternoon at least once a week. And it usually ends in a girls’ night out!”

While trying to slow down, Maya teams up with Italian singer and presenter Lodovica as they hit the streets of Milan and Cremona to explore the role music plays in Italian culture.

Maya then turned to violin making and attempted to train as a soprano before playing Italo-Disco beats to a crowd of excited Milanese.

Discussing what she learned from the experience, she said, “My trip was beautiful. I have knowledge of Italian music.

“Thank you for teaching me how to live Italian and for helping me to be a little extra Italian.”

Maya took on another job this year after being announced as the presenter of Love Island.

When Maya landed the role of Laura Whitmore, she said on The Jonathan Ross Show: “I was so nervous. Obviously it’s a very big show, everyone watches it, everyone has an opinion.

“A lot of people online said, ‘We want Maya to host.’ So it felt like I didn’t want to disappoint anyone.

“I don’t want it to be like this, you wanted me to do it and now I’m shit.” So I felt that pressure and managed the slow motion…”

Discussing her famously sexy performance on the show, she explained: “You take a normal step about three or four times. You have to make it a little bit sexy.

“My friends and I had a big girls’ night out the night before I left and they said, ‘Okay, show us how you’re going to walk.’

“Once I got there and the camera crew was there, I was like, ‘I can’t do it, but if you do it four or five times, they pick the best.
