Festivalgoers were shocked when the loudspeakers at a music festival were suddenly cut off at 10pm – but the clueless carried on.
Ministry of Sound performed its classic tour in Sydney’s entertainment district on Saturdays from 8pm to 10pm, with other acts starting at 2.30pm.
But just as 10 o’clock struck, the loudspeakers suddenly went dead, although singers and a dozen orchestras were still playing the last song.
Footage obtained by Daily Mail Australia shows the band performing a dance and orchestra version of Gimme! Give me! Give me! by ABBA.
The award-winning artists played to a sold-out crowd at Sydney’s The Entertainment Quarter from 2.30pm to 10pm for a full day of music
You can hear the roaring crowd cheering for the band as the performers quietly dance up a storm hoping the music would return.
However, due to earplugs, the performers were unaware that the packed audience couldn’t hear a word and spent the next three minutes finishing the song.
The singers in particular were so distraught that their exuberance never missed a beat, even if only the first few rows of the audience could hear them.
Promoter TMRW Music confirmed the sound was automatically turned off at 10pm to comply with audio restrictions.
“Due to the venue, strict noise restrictions and the need to respect local residents, the amplified music had to be turned off promptly at 10:00 p.m.,” it said.
“Unfortunately the band had about a minute left of the last song at this point, but that’s the nature of live music after playing all day and night.”

Revelers were left in shock on Saturday after the speakers at a Ministry of Sound Classical concert were suddenly cut off at 10pm – while the band were still performing

But just as 10am hit, the venue switched off the speakers and still allowed the revered band to perform on stage – although the audience couldn’t hear them
During the high-energy concert, conductor Vanessa Perica led the Ministry of Sound Orchestra in renditions of popular dance and club hits.
The award-winning band played club favorites from Moby, Underworld, Robert Miles and many other house music acts.
Despite the concert’s abrupt end, fans still asked for more and took to Facebook to thank the band for an incredible performance.
“Ministry of Sound Classic, you were great. Electronic music band is the best thing since sliced bread,” gushed one fan.
“Had a bad night,” another user wrote.
The band will perform on the Gold Coast on May 6 and in Melbourne and Adelaide later this year.
