After making history last year as the first deaf male actor, he won an Oscar for his role in Apple Original Films Code, Troy Kotsur briefly lost his trophy after his jeep was stolen.
The actor, who won the Best Supporting Actor category, was invited to receive Key to the City in his hometown of Mesa, Arizona.
“They asked me to bring the Oscar,” the actor told Deadline on tonight’s Oscars red carpet.
At the Mesa event, he fainted after drawing and holding the £10 figurine. Finally he puts the Oscar back in his jeep.
But then Kotsur’s jeep was stolen.
“Thanks to technology and GPS, the police found my car in less than two hours. The first thing I thought of was the Oscar. is it still there It was there,” Kotsur said.
How did the kids miss the Oscars?
“I don’t think they even noticed. I really hope someone tells these kids. If I had arrived in person, I might have asked her, “How did you like my Jeep?” How did he drive?’” he continued.
“I signed a contract with the academy and you can’t really leave it (the Oscar) in trust, you have to put it in your will and make sure someone is always responsible for it, or put it in the academy museum .” he says the actor continued.
“I didn’t want to cancel my contract,” Kotsur said, “it really scared me when it happened.”
“Now the Oscar is safe at home.”
