British Bake Off star Paul Hollywood gave his famous handshake to the actor who based a character on him after seeing him in a West End musical last week.
John Owen-Jones, who is a dead companion of Paul, plays Phil Hollinghurst in the stage production entitled The Great British Bake Off: The Musical, which took six years to create.
Speaking to the BBC, John revealed that Paul really enjoyed watching the show, which is based on the 13-year-old television series, and gave him two Hollywood handshakes.
John said: “He then shook my hand twice and said he would bring his mother back. He’s never seen a musical before.’
In the television show, a group competes for the title of downing champion, just like in the musical.

Elsewhere, John told the publication he thought the musical made Paul emotional – and claimed he saw him wipe away a tear as the show closed.
John also spoke about playing a role based on a real person and admitted that it was a real challenge to come up with.
He said: “If you portray someone like that, you have a responsibility.
“We gently tease and tweak the character to make him funnier and more theatrical, but when I was asked to do it I thought it wasn’t me at all – until I dyed my hair gray and thought I looked a bit like him.” ‘
John, who stars alongside Hadyn Gwynne, who plays Pam Lee, also shared that while he was aware of Paul’s feelings and was careful not to offend him, the judge was a “very nice” man.
It comes after Prue was reunited with the actress who played her in a previous musical version of Bake Off.
Prue was so enthusiastic about the encounter that she immediately took off her earrings and spontaneously gave them to her doppelgänger as a gift.
The cook, 82, met Rosie Ashe, 69, at the Everyman Theater in Cheltenham in August.
Prue gushed over compliments for the Olivier Award-nominated actor, but was particularly flattered by Rosie’s slim figure. “She told me she was happy I was slim and could sing and dance like a dream,” said Rosie.

Prue also complemented Rosie’s voice, but noted their differences and admitted that she thought her voice made her sound like she was bored.
She said I got the gist of her, including her choice of speech, which she felt was more interesting than hers because she thought the tone tended to make her sound like she was bored.
‘Which of course she never is. What a wonderfully vibrant woman,” enthuses Rosie.
“I jokingly asked her if I could have her earrings and when she left she gave them to me,” she added.
The allusive musical is based on a fictional ‘broadcast series’ by Bake Off – where audiences follow the contestants and judges, but unlike the TV show, audiences also learn off-camera.
At the time, the cast hoped the musical would make it to the West End, and now it has.
