News of the freak accident circulated the day after it happened on Nov. 14, 2022. While fans were concerned, the comedian seemed optimistic about his recovery. “I had some severe burns from a petrol fire. I am fine. I just need a week or two to recover,” he told al daily email in one sentence. Despite Dorito’s story that he shared Kelly Clarkson show It was funny, a Dorito chip didn’t actually cause Jay’s burns. As previously mentioned, he was working on his car with a friend to fix a clogged fuel line, which turned out to be a fuel leak. He was accidentally doused in gasoline, which caught fire because he was too close to the car’s pilot light. Luckily he recovered quickly and now tells the story with a lot of humour.
