If you look up the definition of the word “blockbuster” on Wikipedia, there’s probably a picture of Jerry Bruckheimer next to it. Believe it or not, he finally earned his first Oscar nomination for Top Gun: Maverick, the 36-year-old sequel to the 1986 Tom Cruise hit. It is the rare sequel, along with five other nominations for the best film was nominated.
