Deadline launched the streaming site for its awards event, Contenders Film: The Nominees, which took place on Saturday and highlighted the cast and creatives behind 12 films nominated for an Oscar this year.
The diverse list spanned genres (features and shorts, documentaries and animation) and came from around the world with films from Italy, Poland, Sweden, Argentina, Ireland and Germany. The conversation with the photo team of the latter country, that of Edward Berger No news from the western front from Netflix, came just before it won Best Picture at the BAFTA Film Awards.
All quiet is one of four Best Picture Oscar nominees to join Saturday, a list also shared by Warner Bros. elvisReleased by Orion Pictures/MGM Pictures/United Artists women talk and neons triangle of sadness.
Other international pictures in the mix are Sideshow & Janus Films’ E.O (Poland), Supers The quiet girl (Ireland) and Amazon Studios’ Argentina, 1985. The repeating animation comes from Netflix Pinocchio by Guillermo Del Toro and the Apple Original Films short film The boy, the mole, the fox and the horse. On the short side of live action is Disney+ Original Films’ the student.
Apple’s supporting actor nominee Brian Tyree Henry also performed on Saturday elevated roadand Sara Dosa and her team from National Geographic Documentary Films fire of love.
