My Kitchen Rules couple Carly and Tresne announce their one-year-old daughter has died after battling leukemia

My Kitchen Rules stars Carly Saunders and Tresne Middleton have announced the sad news that their baby daughter, Poppy Grace, has passed away at just 20 months old.

The couple, who documented their journey while raising a sick child, told their Instagram followers on Thursday that their little girl had lost her battle with leukemia.

They posted a photo of their child on their shared account and wrote: “This morning we lost our precious baby Poppy Grace.

“True to her form, she fought tooth and nail until her last breath. Her leukemia took over and her last blood draw was 787,000 blasts. That fighting spirit was so evident throughout their fight and it has been so evident over the past four traumatic days.

“Poppy showed us what it’s like to be grateful and happy with every card you’re given.

She made the most of her time on earth by dancing, giggling and smiling for days after it ended. She was loving and funny and caring. She was smart and empathetic.

“She had a heart of gold and she shone so brightly and was dripping with joy. We were honored to be her mother and we didn’t take that for granted for a moment, not even for a second.

“She has taught us so much in her short 20 months and we have never experienced love so all-encompassing.”

The mothers said they were “sorry” to share the news with their supporters, some of whom have donated blood, money and gifts to their daughter and others who are living with leukemia.

“We know so many children, teenagers and adults are following their journey and we don’t want to hurt their beautiful hearts,” they continued.

“Please tell them that Poppy’s star shines brightly above them and encourages them to be strong in the face of adversity and to make the most of life and all its sparkling opportunities.”

Carly and Tresne have started a Life Blood Donation Group for Poppy where their followers can come together to donate blood and hopefully help sick adults and children like Poppy.

“The Poppy Grace Lifeblood group is fourth in the Newcastle regional rankings. Let’s put them first,” the mothers said.

“She encouraged so many of us to stand up and help others by donating blood. Please continue to donate blood on her behalf.

“We will stand up again for Poppy. We don’t know what it looks like yet – we are lost and our target is gone.

“But we’ll be back soon, living life to the fullest in her honor.” There is much to do with the experiences we have gained, there is much to share and there are many ways we can improve the lives of oncology children and their parents.

“Until then we rest so we can stand up for our forever 20-month-old Poppy.”

Donation bookings can be made on the Lifeblood website or by phone at 13 14 95
