Joanna Barnes died at the age of 87.
Her family has confirmed that the actress, known for her roles in both the original and remake of the blockbuster The Parent Trap, died at her home in California after a long illness.
In the original 1961 film, Joanna played the seeker Vicki Robinson, but in the 1998 production she played the role of Vicki Blake, the mother of the renamed scheming Meredith, alongside Lindsay Lohan.

The acting veteran leaves behind two sisters, Lally and Judith, and three stepchildren, John, Laura and Louise.
Joanna has had an impressive filmography for over four decades, and her roles in plays such as Tarzan, Ape Man, War Chariot and Aunt Mame earned her a Golden Globe nomination for New Star of the Year.
He also appeared in numerous TV series, including The Trials of O’Brien and 21 Beacon Street, and was a frequent speaker in the early years of the syndicated version of What’s My Line.
