Sir Rod Stewart has announced that his wife Penny Lancaster will serve as a special constable with the City of London Police for the King’s coronation concert.
The event takes place in May and rocker Sir Rod (78) will perform as part of his residency at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas.
While a concert will take place on Sunday 7 May in the grounds of Windsor Castle, “musical icons and contemporary stars” will meet at Westminster Abbey in London the following day.
However, Sir Rod, who was knighted in 2016, remains in the United States while Penny dons her police uniform in the UK as she will be on duty during the coronation.
Sir Rod told The Mirror: “I think I’ve worn out my royal welcome. I think I’ll leave that to someone else. I will be in Las Vegas.

“But my wife will be on duty as a police officer.”
Penny completed her training as City of London Police in April 2021 and was on duty for the Queen’s State Funeral in September last year.
Penny applied to become a special agent after appearing on the reality TV show Famous and Fighting Crime, where she joined Agents in the Beat.
At one point during filming, she was confronted by a drug dealer who threatened to stab her.
The mother-of-two, who married Sir Rod in 2007, said the experience inspired her to become a police officer.
Of her role on BBC One’s Crimewatch Live, she previously said: “It’s about 200 hours a year, which for me equates to one shift a week on the City of London Square Mile, including the bridges there.
“It is mostly foot patrol but I have also had the opportunity to try other areas of policing such as working in vehicles, working with sniffer dogs and operations such as the London Marathon, the Lord Mayor’s Show and the upcoming Jubilee.
“I think the main thing that helps is being a mother and having the patience and empathy to deal with teenagers.

“You often think of policing and crime, but you’re dealing with victims.”
Penny said Sir Rod supported her, although he was concerned about the dangers.
She added: “He always supports me in whatever venture I choose and it only made him realize how much enthusiasm, joy and reward I got from it.
“Of course he’s worried about the natural hazards, but with the support I have around me and letting him know when I’m back at the station and it’s safe to go home, he can go back to sleep.”
