Top Gun: Maverick was named best movie of 2022 by Rotten Tomatoes

The highest-grossing film of 2022 in domestic BO in pure calendar days and the second-grossing film worldwide, Paramount’s Top Gun: Maverick ($718.3 million, $1.488 billion) was named the best film of last year by Rotten Tomatoes.

The message comes from Top Gun: Maverick earned six Oscar nominations, including Best Picture, Editing, Sound, VFX, Adapted Screenplay (by Ehren Kruger, Christopher McQuarrie, Eric Warren Singer, Peter Craig and Justin Marks) and Lady Gaga and the original BloodPop song “Hold My Hand “.

The image received a 96% certified re-rating from critics out of 464 reviews and a 99% re-rating on their viewership score. The Joseph Kosinski-directed sequel, starring Tom Cruise and released for a theatrical release during the pandemic, also earned a rare A+ CinemaScore.

The top Rotten Tomatoes photos of 2022 are ranked by the media site. Other films in the top ten are Searchlight’s The Banshees by Inisherin (97% certified fresh), A24s Everything, everywhere, all at once (95%), Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio from Netflix (97%), Disney/Pixar Blush (95%), IFC films happen (99%), Warner Bros. The dough (85%), NEONS fire of love (98%), A24s Marcel wears the shell with shoes (99%) and that of Orion To (98%).
