Priscilla Presley, ex-wife of the late Elvis Presley, has influenced director Baz Luhrmann’s new biography about Elvis.
Priscilla, who recently saw the film in a special screening, was thrilled with Luhrmann’s vision and her role as the King of Rock and Roll, to whom Austin Butler has been married for over six years.
The film chronicles Presley’s life and career, from his early days as a kid growing up in Mississippi to his rise as a rock and roll icon and movie star, to his complicated relationship with his manager, Colonel Tom Parker.

Hooray: Priscilla Presley excited by Baz Luhrmann’s new biography of Elvis and Austin Butler’s performance as the King of Rock and Roll
Luhrmann was the director and co-writer of the film, along with Sam Bromell, Craig Pearce, and Jeremy Donner in a story he co-created with Donner.
After seeing the film with a longtime friend of talent manager and singer Jailhouse Rock’s Memphis Mafia member Elvis Jerry Schilling, he soon became a fan.
Priscilla shared her summary and thoughts on the finished work on Facebook on Friday, after revealing that she and Shilling recently watched the special “at Warner Studios.”
This story is about the relationship between Elvis and Colonel Parker. This is a true story, brilliantly and creatively told, that only Baz can live through in his unique artistic style. Austin Butler, who plays Elvis, is phenomenal,” he wrote, now 76.
