Emmy-nominated actor Charles Kimbrough has died at the age of 86 after a successful acting career that included playing host Jim Dial on Murphy Brown.
The actor died Jan. 11 in Culver City, his son John Kimbrough told the New York Times.
Kimbrough was a regular on the hit series, appearing in all 247 episodes and even returning for several episodes during its 2018 revival, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The hit series followed the eponymous Murphy Brown, an investigative reporter played by Candice Bergen. It originally ran from 1988 to 1998 before being rebooted two decades later.
An award-winning actor, Kimbrough received an Emmy nomination for his role as Dial and a Tony nomination for his role in Steven Sondheim’s Company.
