The boy who survived was wanted for a very long time.

Preparations for the first film were in full swing, but there were serious problems with the main character of the story, JK Rowling. The director of the first film could not find the same boy for a long time. Chris Columbus looked at hundreds of candidates, but the master did not like them all for various reasons.

As often happens, chance intervened. The director came across the BBC movie David Copperfield and saw a little boy with bottomless blue eyes. However, it was not so easy to get him in the picture.

“It was like a lightbulb flashed above my head – here he is, Harry Potter, this boy we’ve been looking for for so long. And I told the casting director to audition. And she told me, “No options, his parents don’t want him involved in this. They won’t let him go.” Fortunately, producer David Heyman is a real pro. After a while, he managed to convince Father Daniel to bring his son to the audition,” the director shared in the documentary Harry Potter 20 Years Later: Return to Hogwarts.
