Russell Crowe couldn’t help but smile as he spoke at the Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts announcement on the Gold Coast on Saturday.
Arriving at the Burleigh Pavilion in his signature all-black ensemble, the AACTA president, 58, hid his eyes behind dark aviator shades.
Despite the Queensland heat, he dressed in black jeans and a black polo shirt while wearing a silver designer watch.

Reading glasses were discovered in his hand when he got out of the car in preparation for his speaking engagement.
He quickly smiled broadly as he entered the room, his dark locks slicked back and a pair of black trainers on his feet.
The New Zealand actor happily mingled with the other attendees at the event, at one point mentally stroking his trimmed beard.

After the show ended, the award-winning actor was called on stage to speak on behalf of the AACTA Awards.
The 2024 ceremony will take place outside Sydney on the Gold Coast for the first time in a three-year deal after QLD NSW took the awards away, the Brisbane Times reported.
“This is going to be an event that will really shake things up and make people have a lot of fun in our industry – and in this state,” Crowe said in the announcement.

As he finished his speech, Crowe posed for photos against the beautiful view of the clear Burleigh Beach that the pavilion overlooked.
He ended his performance by talking to the media about the amazing deal between the QLD film industry and AACTA.
It comes just days after Crowe proved talent runs in his family when he took to the stage with his son Charles at The Hoey Moey Pub in Coffs Harbour.

The actor was in his prime as he released a few songs with several appearances including new Australian Idol judge Amy Shark.
He owned the stage at the Indoor Garden Party and joined his band The Gentlemen Barbers as they all wore matching black suits.
Conceived by Crowe, Alan Doyle, Scott Grimes and Kevin Durand, the event was also attended by Lorraine O’Reilly, Janet Devlin, Myth of Her and the Jennen String Quartet.
