The Banshees of Inisherin and All Quiet on The Western Front lead the nominations for this year’s EE British Academy Film Awards.
The nominations were announced by Hayley Atwell and Toheeb Jimoh on Thursday ahead of next month’s 76th Annual Film Awards ceremony, which will be hosted by actor Richard E Grant and TV presenter Alison Hammond.
The two films are competing for best picture along with Elvis, Everything, Everywhere All At Once and Tar.

All Quiet on The Western Front leads the Waty with 14 nominations, closely followed by The Banshees on Inisherin and Everything, Everywhere All At Once with 10, while Elvis has nine nominations.
More than 7,000 critics took part in shortlisting the best films in various categories – from best actor to production design.
Nothing New in the West is a 2022 epic anti-war film based on the 1929 novel of the same name by Erich Maria Remarque.

Directed by Edward Berger, with Felix Kammerer, Albrecht Schuch, Daniel Brühl, Sebastian Hülk, Aaron Hilmer, Edin Hasanovic and Devid Striesow.
The Banshees of Inisherin follows two lifelong friends (Colin Farrell and Brendan Gleeson) who “reach an impasse when one of them abruptly ends their relationship, with alarming consequences for both of them.”
The host Richard (65) is known for his role in the crime biopic Can You Ever Forgive Me? the extraordinary breadth of this year’s films.”
He first rose to fame as a hapless drunk actor in Withnail And I in 1987 and has had roles in Gosford Park, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker and Downton Abbey.

Presenters: Film critic Ali Plumb said he was excited to host Bafta’s red carpet show with his ‘friend’ presenter Vick Hope (pictured), who in turn called him ‘brilliant’.
Meanwhile, Alison hosts BAFTA Studio, an immersive and accessible experience, as part of the BBC One show and film critic Ali Plum on the red carpet with Vick Hope.
The 47-year-old This Morning star said: “I’m so excited to be presenting the EE Bafta Film Awards with THE Richard E Grant this year.
She added: “We’re going to have a blast bringing the glitz and glamor from backstage to everyone watching at home around the world.”
Emma Mackey and Aimee Lou Wood, who play sex education friends Aimee and Maeve, are among the nominees for the BAFTA EE Rising Star Award, announced on Tuesday.
Naomi Ackie, who recently took on the iconic role of global superstar Whitney Houston in Whitney Houston: I Wanna Dance With Somebody, is also on the shortlist.

Nominees: Good Luck To You’s Daryl McCormack (right) and Sheila Atim (left), who star in the recently released historical epic The Woman King, are also in the running.
Commenting on her nomination, the 30-year-old actress said: “I’ve followed and been inspired by the EE BAFTA Film Awards for so many years, so it’s great to be recognized by this incredible group of artists!
Daryl McCormack, best known for starring in the British comedy drama Good Luck to You, and Sheila Atim, who stars in the recently released historical epic The Woman King, are also in the running for the award.
Now in its 18th year, the award is the only public-voted BAFTA.
Voting is now open on the BAFTA website and the winner will be announced at the EE BAFTA Film Awards on Sunday 19 February.
For the first time, the ceremony will include a live broadcast to announce the final four category winners, which were previously taped and broadcast on the same day.
The BAFTAs will be broadcast on BBC One and BBC iPlayer on February 19.
