After a year-long hiatus, the Golden Globes return to NBC and will air on Tuesday, January 10 at 8:00 PM ET / 5:00 PM. PT broadcast live on the network and Peacock streaming service. Jarrod Carmichael moderates the ceremony at the Beverly Hilton.
This year marks the 80th edition of The Globes, whose organizer, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, has worked to address diversity and other issues that have come to light, prompting NBC to end the broadcast last year. Since then, the group has revised its charter and strengthened the representation of its voting members. The network and HFPA signed a one-year agreement late last year to resume collaboration.
On Tuesday, NBC’s sibling E! will broadcast it Live from the red carpet Pre-show starting at 3pm PT hosted by Laverne Cox and Loni Love.
At this year’s Golden Globes, Eddie Murphy will receive the HFPA’s 2023 Cecil B. DeMille Award for Film and Ryan Murphy’s Carol Burnett Award for Television. Sean Penn will introduce Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, who will appear from afar.
The ceremony, which this year will be held on a weekday after traditionally taking place on a Sunday, has announced a list of presenters that include Mo Brings Plenty, Nicole Byer, Jennifer Coolidge, Jamie Lee Curtis, Claire Danes, Ana De Armas and including Colman. Domingo includes, Jay Ellis, Ana Gasteyer, Henry Golding, Harvey Guillén, Regina Hall, Cole Houser, Salma Hayek Pinault, Jennifer Hudson, Natasha Lyonne, Tracy Morgan, Niecy Nash-Betts, Jenna Ortega, Billy Porter, Glen Powell, Michaela Jaé Rodriguez, Hilary Swank, Quentin Tarantino and Letitia Wright.
As for Tuesday’s trophy hunt, Searchlight Pictures’ The Banshees by Inisherin has the most nominations of any film with eight, giving this studio a leading position of 12 nominations for film and television. Tuesday night’s Globes will usher in a series of awards season events, including Wednesday’s SAG Awards nominations, Sunday’s Critics Choice Awards and next week’s BAFTA Film Awards nominations.
