The tennis star was diagnosed with breast cancer along with throat cancer. “This one-two punch is serious, but it can still be fixed,” she said in a statement to the outlet. “I expect a favorable result. It’s going to suck for a while, but I’m going to fight with everything I’ve got. Notably, this isn’t her first cancer diagnosis, as Martina was previously diagnosed with breast cancer in 2010, according to the WTA. She will begin her treatments the second week of January 2023 in New York City.
