Carolina Jaramillo denies claim in Paul Flores murder case

Peruvian singer Carolina Jaramillo has denounced defense claims attempting to link her to the murder of her husband, Armonia 10 vocalist Paul Flores, calling the allegation a fabricated tactic to delay justice.

Speaking on the Peruvian entertainment show Q'bochinche on Wednesday, August 19, Jaramillo said defense attorneys representing suspects detained in the case are falsely alleging a crime of passion. She explained that the claim is an effort to stall proceedings so the suspects' court-ordered preventive detention period expires before a verdict is reached.

Jaramillo noted that initial judicial proceedings were already well advanced when a change of judge forced the court to restart the case from the beginning. She expressed outrage over the delay, emphasizing that Flores died in March 2025 as a result of extortion while traveling between concert venues for work, rather than in a private setting.

Defense strategy and trial delays

According to Jaramillo, one year and five months after the killing, prosecutors have produced no evidence implicating her in her husband's death. She stated that justice has not been served for the late singer, adding that his family remains the only party actively fighting for progress in court.

Flores was a popular vocalist for Armonia 10, one of Peru's longest-running cumbia groups, which was founded in Piura in 1972. Jaramillo addressed the allegations during a live interview with television hosts Mariela Zanetti and Samuel Suarez on Q'bochinche, a Peruvian celebrity news program.

Lack of support and frozen funds

Jaramillo also criticized the management of Armonia 10, stating that the company has provided no legal representation or assistance to demand justice for the singer. She said the orchestra's owners have refused to take responsibility for the incident, even though Flores was killed while actively working for the group.

Through tears, Jaramillo revealed that she has been left to handle the legal battle alone while facing financial hardship. She explained that she remains unable to access Flores's life insurance payout because the funds are currently frozen, preventing her from starting a business to support her family.
