Dave Filoni revealed an unreleased Star Wars: The Clone Wars clip showing Boba Fett fighting Anakin Skywalker during Star Wars Celebration Japan. Filoni, the co-creator of Clone Wars and creative director of Lucasfilm, presented the unseen animation during a 20th anniversary animation panel.
The deleted clip came from an unpublished story arc that follows Cad Bane acting as a mentor to a young Boba Fett. Filoni explained the dynamic by stating that Jango Fett served as Boba's "good" father, while Cad Bane became his "bad" father after Jango died.
Coruscant chase and duel
The video begins with Boba climbing through the Skyways of Coruscant on a jetpack while weaving through heavy traffic. Cad Bane monitors his protégé from the shadows as Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker pursues Boba on a speeder bike while exchanging blaster fire.
The high-speed pursuit features tight curves and flame explosions before a vehicle cuts Boba off and causes him to crash. Anakin does not notice the crash and speeds past, giving Boba a chance to take revenge.
Anakin's bike is tripped, triggering a street fight between the two characters. Boba entangles Anakin with a harpoon, causes him to stumble, and opens fire with his guns.
Escape and aftermath
Anakin deflects the blasts with his laser sword and uses the Force to push the boy back. Believing the fight is over, Anakin lets his guard down until Boba launches into the sky with his jetpack and escapes.
The scene ends with Anakin checking in with Mace Windu via a hologram. Windu has been injured but says he is fine. Anakin tells him, "He was a bounty hunter. One I'm not familiar." Lucasfilm never aired the deleted scene, leaving the unproduced arc outside official Star Wars canon.
