American singer Madonna stayed in a secluded two-storey luxury villa on the Greek island of Patmos during a private getaway with her son Rocco Ritchie.
The pop star retreated to the island after celebrating her birthday on Corfu with her family and friends, seeking quiet isolation away from public appearances.
The 170-square-metre property features three bedrooms, a private spa pool with hydromassage, an aromatherapy hammam, and outdoor spaces offering panoramic views towards Skala and Chora. Located in the Aegean Sea, Patmos is part of the Dodecanese island group, with Skala serving as its main port town and Chora as its historic hilltop capital.
Designed to keep the bedrooms isolated from daytime living areas, the traditional residence allowed Madonna to enjoy a completely private estate rather than navigating shared hotel facilities.
Villa owner's account of private stay
Property owner Marietta Hatzipanagiotidou, who operates the Patmos Eye complex, told news outlet Newsbeast that Madonna lodged in one of her three villas. Hatzipanagiotidou said Madonna was drawn to the house by its traditional style and scenic landscape views, adding that the singer had no special demands beyond asking for specific items to stock her refrigerator.
She described the singer and her companions as polite, simple, and discreet guests who wished to keep their arrival confidential. The accommodation owner noted that she respected their privacy and did not know how news of the visit became public.
Quiet departure and signed album
Neighbours were entirely unaware that the global celebrity was residing in the area until her final day on the island. Hatzipanagiotidou explained that local residents only suspected Madonna was present when she was leaving, following the online circulation of videos recorded in Chora that confirmed her stay.
The villa owner recalled meeting Madonna in person before her departure, noting that the singer warmly thanked her for the hospitality. Hatzipanagiotidou added that she showed Madonna a music album she had purchased as a child, which the singer signed before leaving.
Local seafood and island reflections
According to reports by Newsbeast, Madonna was also impressed by the taste of fresh Greek sea fish during her visit, considering it superior to seafood she had tried abroad. As a result, an associate placed regular orders from a specific island tavern to be delivered directly to the villa.
Unlike more cosmopolitan Greek destinations that attract international celebrities every summer, Patmos offered a setting focused on religious and emotional significance. Following her trip, Madonna posted photographs online giving followers a personal glimpse into her journey across the Aegean landscape.
Madonna said Patmos was a magical island where she felt a strong spiritual presence, sending prayers from her stay.
