Homeoplasmin is a drug originally formulated for treat and soothe skin irritations. Its creamy formula is recommended for “auxiliary treatment of the epidermis” it’s right “one to three thin layer applications a day” according to the instructions for use supplied with the tube. The problem is that today many people use this formula incorrectly as a mask or lip balm, anti-aging treatment, foundation primer and eyebrow fixer. Different and deviated forms of use that all have one thing in common: they are not appropriate.

Why should homeoplasmin be applied sparingly?
As you will have understood, Homeoplasmin is a real medicine. Therefore, it cannot be used for cosmetic purposes. Which makes it unsuitable for everyday use, is the presence of boric acid in its formula. The latter is a topical antiseptic is one slightly astringent for ophthalmic use.
On the product leaflet, you can read this warning: “Due to the presence of boric acid, this drug should not be used for prolonged or repeated use, on injured skin (especially burned skin), over a large area, as an occlusive (closed) dressing, especially in children. »

Pharmaceutical products too often diverted for cosmetic purposes
Biafine, Homéoplasmine, anti-hemorrhoid creams… Dozens of pharmaceutical products considered medicinal are being diverted from their main use for cosmetic purposes.
If this phenomenon is particularly evident with foreign customers (often in awe of the wide choice of self-service products in our French parapharmacies), thousands of beauty tips showing how to use these drugs abound on the networks social. On TikTok, Biafine thus becomes an anti-itch cream when bitten by mosquitoes, Homéoplasmine presents itself as the best primer in the sector and the anti-hemorrhoid cream is always used to reduce dark circles.
Unfortunately, by diverting the use of these various products, the consumer play with the health of her skin, and if their short-term effects may make you want to use them long-term, that’s a bad idea.
To counteract this phenomenon, laboratories have not hesitated to develop cosmetics dedicated to the problems targeted by people who divert the drugs in question. Thus, Biafine created its own milk for daily use called Cicabiafine when Boiron (Homéoplasmine) imagined a lip balm called Dermoplasmine®.
I hope the message got through.
